ABBE, the Awarding Body for the Built Environment and the market leader in professional energy assessment qualifications sponsored the Energy Assessor Expo 2009. The event attracted a variety of professionals working within the residential and commercial property sectors, including surveyors, facilities managers and qualified energy assessors.

Over 2,400 delegates attended the Expo, the UK’s first show for energy assessment professionals. The first dedicated event of its kind for the industry took place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, and proved so popular that pre-event registration was full three months in advance.
The success of the event reflects recent legislative changes which have made Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) compulsory for residential and commercial sales and lettings, plus growing recognition of the contribution that energy assessors can make in improving the efficiency of buildings.
ABBE Chief Executive Roger Bishop said: “ABBE is the market leader in energy assessment qualifications thanks to the high regard in which its awards are held by professionals, so it has been a great privilege to sponsor the inaugural Energy Assessor Expo and to speak to delegates.
“ABBE showcased its unique range of modular energy assessment awards at the event. The awards are designed to allow candidates to use credit from energy assessment qualifications already achieved towards further ABBE qualifications, enabling professionals within the industry to build a wide range of skills.
“Challenging times within the property market underline the need for people who are able to demonstrate multiple competencies to employers and clients. ABBE offers a range of qualifications for professional careers in energy assessment, including domestic, non-domestic and display energy certificate assessment of public buildings.”
Delegates at the Energy Assessor Expo were able to find out more about ABBE’s other awards, including its recently launched Level 3 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment and forthcoming plans for air conditioning qualifications.
Over 35 exhibitors from across the industry attended the Energy Assessor Expo, with many offering continuing professional development (CPD) workshops for delegates. Organisers are planning an even bigger event for next year.
