ABBE has worked with the SAVA School of Surveying and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to develop the ABBE level 6 Diploma in Residential Valuation and the ABBE level 6 Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation. In the process of developing these two qualifications we have drawn upon decades of industry knowledge.
An ABBE approved assessment centre, the SAVA School of Surveying, based in Milton Keynes, has become the first training provider to offer a vocational route into the residential surveying and valuation industry.
Until now, prestigious RICS membership was only available to those with a relevant undergraduate degree or extensive industry experience. The diplomas offer part-time alternatives to university education for those with new career ambitions. The qualifications have been specially crafted so that they directly satisfy the requirements for direct entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at Associate member level.
Hilary Grayson, Head of Surveying Services at SAVA, comments, “Innovation has always been at the heart of SAVA. The residential surveying industry is suffering from a skills shortage caused by an ageing workforce and the traditional degree route into the profession can be lengthy and complex.
With some lenders reporting delays of up to six weeks for residential valuations, we decided that the best way to address the issue was to create a new, vocational pathway into the profession to ensure the stable future of the industry.
The course is challenging and a big commitment to undertake, but the career is very rewarding. We are proud to have developed a qualification that meets RICS standards and are excited to be able to offer this new opportunity to those looking to kick start their career in surveying. Sometimes before you can open a door you have to build it, and that’s what we’ve done.”
“This blended learning approach is perfect for learners looking to study while they work,” Hilary says, “and we have a dedicated team of expert trainers working hard to ensure that our online material is just as comprehensive and engaging as the face-to-face sessions.”
Courses are available in Milton Keynes and Barnsley. For more information, contact the SAVA School of Surveying on 01908 442158 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
