ABBE is managing to maintain a Business as Usual approach for our centres. We can answer any calls you make to our main office number (0121 331 5174) and will respond to all emails sent to abbeenquiries@bcu.ac.uk

There is one area in which we have encountered difficulties, the production of hard copy certificates. This is because we are unable to access our office buildings. We are instead producing pdf versions of our certificates and are sending these via email to the contact we have listed for your centre. Once we can resume business as usual, we will print the hard copy certificates and will dispatch these to you. The pdf certificates are “light” versions of our usual certificates, but do contain the qualification, certificate number and signature of the ABBE Board Chair, Julian Beer.

Additionally, we have previously informed you of the action being taken by Pearson Vue; they have had to close their testing centres. This means that any learners with booked examinations will not be able to take these.
Where our qualifications contain examinations that are accessed through Pearson Vue test centres, we will look to implement alternative assessment arrangements.

Alternative assessment methodologies must ensure that there is parity of assessment for all learners regardless of how the assessment is accessed; be that by the usual examination or completion of the alternative method. Learners must not be disadvantaged in any way by the current situation.
Each suite of qualifications that contain examinations have different requirements and we will review the requirements of each of these to develop an alternative form of assessment specifically designed for the qualification. We are working with our Regulator, Ofqual, to agree the form that these will take. We will update you as soon as we have full information.
