Hard copy Certificates

As part of our continuous effort to follow Government guidelines around
COVID 19, and due to the current lockdown we will not be sending hard copies of certificates out until the end of March at the earliest. This will remain under review and in line with Government guidelines.

In the meantime, learners will still receive an on-line certificate for their records.

CITB NVQ Assessment Strategy Dispensation under COVID-19

Centres are reminded that CITB have issued updated guidance to account for restrictions on contact during COVID-19 and dispensation for learners displaced in the current economic climate.

The addendum gives guidance on the use of alternative evidence capturing that centres may choose to use, e.g. video evidence etc. to allow for social distancing. The updated Assessment Strategy details the increased scope to use simulation for displaced workers, so that they can still finish their qualification if they are close to completing but are then made redundant.

Any such alternative arrangements are subject to agreement on a case-by-case basis with the ABBE. These arrangements are applicable until the end of the year.

News from FE Week …………………….

Education to reopen by 8 March at the earliest, DfE confirms

Education will begin reopening to more students from 8 March at the earliest if the government’s Covid-19 vaccination targets are met, the Department for Education has confirmed.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that this would the earliest that schools could reopen, but failed to mention whether this would apply to the further education sector.

However, the DfE has now confirmed colleges are part of the same plan. If all the people in the four most vulnerable groups are vaccinated by 15 February, the government will look at fully reopening schools and colleges three weeks later, by 8 March, as that is when those groups will have developed immunity to Covid-19.
