Qualification Information

Infrared thermography has traditionally been used to identify fault conditions in mains electrical systems and components, in many mechanical systems and by fire-fighters to locate casualties.
Infrared thermography has also been used to a lesser extent in the built environment to locate sources of heat loss from buildings, whether through poor installation of insulation systems, thermal bridging or draughts.
This qualification enables learners to demonstrate the professional knowledge, understanding, personal and leadership skills required to carry out thermographic surveys throughout the built environment. Level 4 learners will be required to organise and manage themselves and other thermographers prior to and during surveys, analyse images and sign off thermographic building survey reports.
Learners holding this qualification meet competence requirements for all commercial and domestic thermographic surveys laid down in the Commercial and Domestic BREEAM, and BRE Home Quality Mark, handbooks.

On successful completion of this qualification the British Institution of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT), has recognised that the Level 4 Thermography qualification may be used to gain membership to the organisation. The Level 4bqualification entitles the holder to Full membership.

Learners holding this qualification also meet competence requirements for all commercial and domestic thermographic surveys laid down in the Commercial and Domestic BREEAM, and BRE Home Quality Mark, handbooks.
